 Waxing faq

Welcome to High Society Waxing! You have come to our site for a reason, whether you are a seasoned client looking for a new and better experience or this is your first time and you have some some questions. Below are some of the mot commonly asked.

I have never been waxed before, what do I need to know!?

Breathe, and remember the thought of waxing is typically worse than the actual wax itself, we are experienced so you will be in great hands, it is our job and soul purpose to make you feel comfortable during the whole process.

How long does the hair have to be?

The longer the better, we understand the grow out process is difficult, for best results, we recommend minimum 2 weeks of growth, ideally 3. You want the hair to be about as long as a grain of rice. If your hair is to short on your appointment day, we will ask you to reschedule. We want you to go home happy with your results.

Does waxing hurt?

There is discomfort, it is a quick sting and then it's gone, (after all we are getting the hair out by the root). The "wax" we use is designed to make waxing less painful than traditional waxes while providing exceptional results. We have carefully trained technicians and we are good at what we do. the service is generally quick.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare my skin for waxing?

Exfoliating a day prior to your waxing help remove any dead skin, please do not exfoliate the day of your wax, waxing is a form of exfoliation and you do not want to cause over sensitivity. Methods of exfoliation can be a dry brush or a gentle scrub (ideally something tea tree oil based if you use a scrub). no need to put lotion or harsh astringents on the area to be waxed as it can also cause sensitivity. Our wax works best with the skins natural oils.

Avoid waxing

  •  If you have had intense sun exposure/tanning or sunburn.

  •  Using topical retinols on area to be waxed

  •  Taking acutane (test patch required after 3 months of being off medication)

  •  Oral antibiotics/steroids can cause skin sensitivity

  •  Had any facial treatments or injections within 7-14 days depending on what was done. Please consult with us.

What do I do after waxing?

Welcome to the dark side! Now you have been wondering why you have waited so long to experience the awesomeness of waxing! Aftercare is simple.

  •  Avoid intense sun exposure (including tanning beds) for 24 hours

  •  Avoid excessive sweating for 24 hours (we realize we live in Texas so that's hard at times) we mean;

  •  No gym, hot tubs, saunas, outdoor activities.

  •  loose fitting clothes for the first 48 hours is best, you want the areas that were waxed to breathe so   here is your chance to go commando!! If you wear tight clothes you will run the risk of causing   irritation and angry hair follicles.

  •  Give your skin some love. We really like Coconut oil infused with Tea Tree oil as a antiseptic   moisturizer.

  •  You can begin exfoliating after 48 hours. We carry an amazing scrub that is gentle! our clients LOVE   IT.

What kind of wax do you use?

We are obsessed with NuFree –

Nufree Nudesse is the gold standard in hair removal and is carried by thousands of professional salons throughout the world. It was developed over 25 years ago to help plastic surgeons remove hair from a patient before surgery. Here are just a few of the reasons why Nufree Nudesse is the most effective hair removal treatment in the world.

  • Nufree Nudesse is NOT A WAX and never sticks to the skin.

  • Nufree Nudesse is self-preserving antibacterial/antimicrobial so its safe, clean and germ free.

  • Nufree Nudesse is completely BOTANICAL and safe for the entire body.

  • Nufree Nudesse doesn’t dry and can be erased any time!

  • Nufree Nudesse is scientifically tested and uses no animal products.

Do you do the "Backside"!?

Yep! “you have hair back there???”  Everyone does. The “backside” is exactly what it sounds like: your butt crack. And having it waxed is amazing and that part doesn't even hurt!

What if I want to keep some hair…down there?

That’s ok to! We will accommodate your needs and understand that not every one wants to be completely hairless down there. We can leave a landing strip and remove the rest. Or we offer the extended bikini which will remove hair from about two fingers width inside the natural panty line. WE GOT YOU!! Just tell us!

How often should I wax?

Every 4-6 weeks we have found to be the best schedule. It’s better to wax at regular intervals because it’s less painful. The longer you continue waxing the less and less the hair will grow. It is important not to abandon waxing after your first appointment. It usually takes 2-3 appointments to get into a rhythm and really experience the true benefits of waxing.

I started my period, should I reschedule?

Nope! Just wear a tampon and don’t worry about it. Though, if you feel uncomfortable we totally understand, and you can reschedule your appointment. If this happens please notify us as soon as possible.
